With inclusive gender options, you can update your profile to help drive diverse casting.
- We've added to our available gender options (there are now 27)
- You can add your own gender(s) and select multiple ones that apply to you
- You can add a preferred pronoun should you choose
Overview
As the leading casting platform for creative talent, with millions of people in our community, we had two goals in mind when updating the gender options:
- To allow our community to express their gender identity fully, without limitation -creating a place of complete gender inclusivity and equity.
- To encourage more diverse and inclusive casting on the platform.
How to Add or Edit Your Gender and Pronoun
Login to your account and go to Profile and select your profile from the dropdown. Then click on the edit icon next to your name once in the profile:
In the 'Preferred Pronoun (optional)' section you can select one or more of the available options provided.
In the 'Gender(s) I identify as' section you can either select the gender(s) that apply to you from the dropdown, type in the bar to populate options from our existing non-showing list, or add/create your own by typing it. You can choose as many as you like.
If you choose a gender outside of male or female, you will be presented with a question of whether you would like to be included in searches for male and females (this question only appears in the 'Actor & Performer Profile'):
If you select either or both of those options, you would come up in searches for those. If you choose neither, you would only come up in searches that match the specific gender(s) noted or when no gender is specified in the search.
Even if you select the options to be included in searches for either or both male and female, the gender showing on your profile will be the one(s) that you identify as:
In creating a 'Voiceover Profile', the gender(s) you have on your 'Actor & Performer Profile' will be imported there. If desired, you can change it or add to it.
Please note that in the 'Voiceover Profile' under 'Voice Characteristics', that the options are male and female. This follows the same logic regarding coming up in searches for male and/or female as stated above.
Gender in Searches on the Find Jobs Page
When using gender as a filter in creating a search, it functions much like when setting up gender in your profile. You can select the gender(s) that apply to you from the dropdown or type in the bar to populate options from our existing non-showing list. The only exception here is that you cannot create a custom one to search for jobs as job posters are not creating custom ones for posted notices.
