Canceling Your Google Play Android App Subscription to Backstage

Managing Subscriptions on Google Play

Unfortunately, Google does not allow us to cancel subscriptions or issue refunds for payments made through their payment platform. If you purchased a subscription via the Android app, you will need to cancel it via Google Play directly.

Canceling Your Google Play Subscription

Turning off auto-renew

You can request a cancellation for a Google Play subscription directly via their support page here.

Click on Cancel a subscription to get started. Confirm that you are in the correct Google account. Tap on the account followed by Payments & subscriptions. Then tap Subscriptions and select the subscription you want to cancel. Tap Cancel Subscription. Then confirm the cancellation. Your subscription will stop at the end of the current billing cycle.

Refunds

As stated above, we cannot provide refunds for purchases made through Google. However, users may contact Google support directly to request a refund. Please see this support article regarding refund requests through Google.

Cancelling a non-Google Subscription From Within the Android App

If you did not subscribe via Google, but through the website and still want to cancel your subscription from within the Android app, you can do so by navigating to your Account Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the upper left hand corner of the Profile tab.

Now select Subscription Plan under Settings.

Now tap on Turn Off Auto-Renew.

Select the reason why you are canceling and then tap Continue.

Tap Cancel My Subscription to proceed.

You will now be presented with a cancellation confirmation indicating that auto-renew has been turned off as well as showing the date the subscription will expire as seen below.

Navigating back to Subscription Plan will confirm this as you you will see Auto-Renew Has Been Turned Off.

If you do not see that being the case after you completed the cancellation process, please contact our support team for further assistance.

*Please note that simply deleting the app from your Android phone does not automatically cancel your subscription and stop recurring billing. You must manually cancel your subscription to avoid further charges.
