This article will explain the metrics available in your reporting dashboard, how they are calculated, and how they apply across different levels of your Meta Ads campaigns. Our reporting focuses specifically on the performance of User-Generated Content (UGC) sourced through Backstage.
How Metrics Are Tracked
Understanding the scope of your reporting is crucial. Backstage tracks performance specifically for ads utilizing the UGC you have pushed over to Meta. Here is how metrics are reported at different levels:
Ad-level Metrics
Focus on UGC Ads: Ad-level metrics show the performance for the specific ad that is using the Backstage UGC content.
Content vs. Ad-level: This is not individual content-level reporting. If an ad contains only one piece of UGC, the content and ad-level reporting are identical. However, if an ad features multiple pieces of content (e.g., a carousel), the metrics reflect the performance of the entire ad, not the individual assets within it.
Ad Campaign-level Metrics
Backstage Content Only: Campaign-level metrics summarize the performance of only the ads that use UGC content sent via Backstage. If your Meta ad campaign contains other ads that do not use Backstage content, their performance is completely excluded from these campaign-level metrics.
De-Duplication Logic: When metrics are summarized at the ad campaign level, certain metrics require specific calculation logic. For example, Reach is not simply a sum of the reach of all ads in the ad campaign. If Ad A reaches 500 people and Ad B reaches 600 people, the combined campaign reach might only be 1,000 (not 1,100) if 100 people saw both ads.
