This article will explain how to post a brief in order to source content creators for your UGC projects on Backstage. Additionally, we will discuss hiring applicants and how to invite creators to apply to your Brief.
Where to Start
There are a couple of different ways to be able to get to the workflow to create your brief. One is via the Post a Job button located in the upper right corner of your screen.
Then select Creator & UGC Projects as indicated below:
Another way is to click into the My UGC dropdown in the upper right hand corner of your screen and select Post UGC Brief.
Lastly, you can do so within your Casting Dashboard by clicking on Create New Project and selecting Creator & UGC Projects:
Creating and Posting the Brief
We now find ourselves within the form to create the brief. Below we will go over the various sections.
First we need to identify the objective or what type of project is to be created and what the product category is. Clicking on either Content Creation & UGC or Influencer Marketing will surface different content types as seen below:
After selecting the project type, content types, and product categories we will proceed to the next sections:
Here we will state what types of deliverables we are looking for and whether or not the project will be remote or onsite.
Clicking Add a Deliverable will provide a dropdown of options:
After making a selection, choose your targeted social platforms and add some creative directions and anything you want to specify:
Please note that you can request multiple, different deliverables if so desired.
Finally, we come to Compensation. Here you will state if the payment is monetary, awarding of a product, or a combination of the two.
After this has been established, click on Review Brief to see what your brief will look like once posted. Please see the sample below:
As you can see you are free to edit where appropriate at this stage. Once everything is satisfactory, click on Publish Your Job to check out.
Here you will want to enter Key Dates such as the date your listing expires as well as a content delivery date (optional):
(Should you want to shorten or extend the expiration date of your posted brief at a later point in your process, you can do so by getting into the edit mode of the brief and then clicking on the Save & Publish button at the bottom of the page until you reach the Finalize Your Listing page. There you can click on the the edit icon under Key dates and make the changes under Apply by and save them)
Next set up how you often you would like to be notified about applications:
Then just put in and affirm your payment details, agree to the Deadlines & Conditions, and then click Pay and Post My Job to get it live on Backstage.
Viewing, Interacting with, and Hiring Applicants
You can get to your UGC applicants via the Casting Dashboard:
Select UGC Projects to pull up your briefs be they drafts, active, or expired:
As seen above we are viewing the brief we just posted. Clicking on the title of your brief will bring you into the Application Manager where you can take action on your applicants. You can shortlist them, mark them as a no, message them, or extend an offer.
If we want to extend an offer to an applicant, simply click on the ellipsis on their applicant card and select Hire Now:
Now you will describe what you are looking for from the applicant, add any relevant attachments and send the offer.
If returning to the Application Manager the applicant is now in the Offer/Hire bucket.
Once the offer is accepted by the applicants, we will see them in the Awaiting Action From Recipient section of the Payments dashboard.
After the deliverable is submitted by the content creator, the next step is to review the submission:
You may now view the submission and pay the creator if satisfactory. You may also request a revision if necessary:
After clicking Pay Now, you will see an option to pay off or on platform.
Paying on platform:
Paying off platform:
After choosing to Send Backstage Payment on platform, you will see the following:
You will now be able to download the paid for deliverable!
Inviting Creators to Apply to Your Brief
If you are looking to get more applicants for your posted Brief or know of someone you believe would be a great fit, we offer the ability for you to invite someone to apply.
Invitations can be sent a few different ways:
From the Talent Database
There are a couple ways to send your invite from here. After entering the Talent Database, simply click on the Invite to Apply icon on the talent card of someone you would be interested in:
In the ensuing modal, select UGC Briefs, the Brief you want them to apply to, and then press the Invite button:
Or you can do it from the profile preview or full profile. Once either has been surfaced, click on Invite (preview) or Invite to Apply (full) to bring up the invite modal we see above.
Once an invite has been sent internally, you will see the talent in the Invites folder within the Application Manager of the Brief on question:
Once they apply they will be moved to the To Review folder.
Inviting External Parties
If you know of creators off-site that you think would be a good fit for your project, you can send them an external invite. This will prompt them to create a creator profile on the platform and allow them to submit an application to the posted Brief in question.
You can invite them from within your Brief Application Manager. Select Options in the upper right hand corner and then choose Invite new talent from the dropdown:
Now you will see the ability to add email(s) of the person or people you would like to invite, write in a message, and send the invite(s).
