We’ve added the ability for content creators to add pricing and deliverables to their profiles. It’s designed to help employers quickly understand creators’ typical offerings and identify those who fit their project needs.
Below are answers to common questions about how pricing works today and what to expect as we continue expanding these features.
*Please note that this is currently only available on the Backstage platform for the moment.
What’s launching now?
Creators can add content types, deliverables, and pricing directly to their Backstage profiles. Employers will be able to browse these details and message creators to start a conversation.
How should content creators approach pricing?
Setting pricing for the first time can feel unfamiliar, especially for creators who are new to paid content work. Profile pricing helps employers understand typical deliverables and can be updated at any time.
Creators often consider the following when determining their rates:
Start with common deliverables.
Rates should be based on what content creators can reliably produce, such as short-form videos, product demos, photosets, or scripted reads.
Account for time and skills.
Pricing should reflect the full scope of work involved, including preparation, filming, editing, and any revisions.
Keep it simple at first.
Many creators begin with one or two standard offerings and refine their pricing as their workflow becomes clearer.
Consider usage.
How and where the content will be used—organic posts, paid advertising, multiple platforms—can influence pricing. Usage should always be confirmed with the employer.
Stay flexible.
Profile pricing is not a contract. Creators can revise their rates as they gain experience or expand their offerings.
Can employers purchase assets directly on Backstage?
Not yet. This release focuses on visibility and discovery. All negotiation, agreements, and payments happen off-platform between creators and employers.
Are these prices binding?
No. Pricing represents what creators typically charge, but they do not establish a contract. Both parties should confirm scope, revisions, usage rights, timelines, and payment terms before agreeing to any work.
Does Backstage mediate agreements or disputes?
No. Backstage does not offer governance, arbitration, or enforcement. Creators and employers are responsible for defining terms and resolving issues.
Are rights or usage terms implied by the platform?
No. Nothing in the profile, pricing, or messaging implies rights or licensing. Both parties must explicitly agree on usage, ownership, and distribution before work begins.
How should creators use pricing?
Creators should use pricing as a clear starting point for common deliverables. Prices should be realistic and aligned with what a creator is prepared to consistently deliver.
How should employers use pricing?
Employers should use pricing to baseline understand costs and quickly identify creators who align with their project needs. They should confirm details directly with the creator before moving forward with any work.
Will Backstage offer built-in agreements, workflows, or payment tools?
These capabilities are planned for future releases. This launch focuses on enabling early activity in our growing creator marketplace.
What happens if a creator doesn’t respond to messages?
Creators manage their own availability and response times, Employers can reach out to multiple creators or refine their search to find active profiles.
Can creators update or remove their pricing?
Yes. Pricing is editable and can be updated at any time. Creators should ensure their profile reflects current rates and offerings.
